Wililiam Garner, DrPH, Elected to Serve on Texas Public Health Association Governing Council

William Garner, DrPH, has been elected to serve on the Governing Council of the Texas Public Health Association (TPHA) for the organization's Annual Education Conference. This is a three-year term, and Garner will also continue his role as TPHA鈥檚 parliamentarian. His election reflects the confidence his peers place in his leadership, expertise, and commitment to advancing public health across the state.
As a member of the Governing Council, Garner will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and policies of TPHA, supporting statewide public health initiatives and advocating for the interests of local public health professionals and communities. He brings a strong voice for San Antonio and the surrounding region, ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented in discussions around critical issues such as health promotion, disease prevention, environmental health, maternal and child health and mental health. In addition, he will help guide efforts related to public health accreditation, disaster preparedness, community health and policy development.
The TPHA Annual Education Conference provides a vital forum for sharing original research, program evaluations, and innovative practices among public health professionals from across Texas. As a long-standing member of this professional community, Garner looks forward to collaborating with colleagues both locally and statewide to strengthen the impact of public health research, education and practice.
